Alliance Air spreads its wings in remote Northeastern corners of India with two new routes

Alliance Air, India’s domestic low-cost carrier, has recently started two routes on the newly inaugurated Donyi Polo Airport or Hollangi Airport in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is developed under the India Government’s flagship scheme UDAN to ensure remote connectivity to tier 2 and tier 3 cities. With a 2300-meter-long runway, the airport will allow Arunachal Pradesh to host large aircraft for the first time.

Alliance Air will operate flights on Dibrugarh-Itanagar-Ziro and Dibrugarh-Itanagar-Pasighat routes. Earlier this week, IndiGo launched services from Itanagar to Mumbai and Kolkatta.

Alliance Air will use Dornier 228 airplane on these new routes as it will allow landing at smaller runways at Ziro. Alliance Air recently took delivery of the Indian-manufactured Dornier 228 to boost its network across the Indian regional market.

Going ahead, Alliance Air also plans to start international operations connecting small Indian cities to Asian destinations like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
