Allegiant Air has posted a second-quarter net income of $70.5 million, an increase of 41% from the $50 million experienced in the same period last year - which the airline attributes to its decision to switch to an all-Airbus fleet.
Revenue for the period stood at $492 million, up 12.6% from the corresponding quarter last year. While the group's operating income was reportedly up 45.7% to $102 million.
Departures in the second quarter were up 13.8% year-over-year despite seven fewer average aircraft in service. Average number of aircraft in service decreased 7.6% from 92 to 85 year
The airline flew 4.13 million passengers during the period, an increase of 12.2%, with revenue passenger miles (RPMs) coming in at 3.60 million, up 11% and available seat miles (ASMs) coming in at 4.31 million, up 13.6%
Its total fuel gallons increased 4.9%.
