First half of 2023, (H1) ended on a strong note for all the four airports in Los Angeles with significant improvement in passenger traffic (PAX) About 43.2 million passengers passed through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) recording a 16% rise while the other three airports, Ontario, Long Beach and Burbank saw a 15% improvement over PAX in 2022.
Two million passengers headed through the gates at LAX in June, while Long Beach Airport recorded the second highest growth rate, with 14%, aided by Southwest Airlines’ extra slots at the airport. A range of new routes were introduced, including Albuquerque, Kansas City, Orlando, Colorado Springs, and El Paso.
Long Beach witnessed about 320,000 passengers in June, representing a 9% increase compared to 2022 and a 4% improvement to 2019, pre-pandemic.
Ontario welcomed almost three million passengers reporting a rise of 12% as compared to 2022, and 15% as compared pre-pandemic levels.
Hollywood Burbank reported a 2.8% increase in visitors compared to 2022 with almost 2.8 million passengers, a mere 2% down from 2019.
