Alitalia has resumed direct services between Rome and Boston.
The service to Boston is in addition to the one to New York, resumed in early June, and will be operated three times a week.
Alitalia has also commented on press reports relating to flights to and from Trieste airport. The airline confirmed that Alitalia will resume air services with Rome after 31 August 2020, because the resumption of the route in August “would have generated a significant financial loss due to the seasonal low level of demand, also combined with the rejection by the managing company of Trieste Airport of the request to recognise to the Italian flag airline quotation for airport services in line with the conditions offered to foreign airlines”.
Alitalia states that it has sent “evidence on the financial discrimination with which it is treated”, which it says is an attitude “prevailing by the majority of Italian airports and which is incompatible with the efficiency measures taken by the airline”.
Alitalia hopes that discussions currently underway will facilitate the achievement of the conditions for a prompt recovery of flights to and from Trieste airport.
