Luigi Gubitosi, one of the three government-appointed commissioners for Alitalia, has confirmed to many news outlets that they are in the process of hiring investment bankers to manage a possible sale out of administration. A buyer is being sought for before the end of October when Alitalia will face possible liquidation. The sale process will begin next week, with bids expected to be received in July.
Gubitosi said that the ideal partner for the airline “does not exist” and, as a result, the commissioners are catching a wide net to capture the bidder that “can contribute the most to the relaunch of Alitalia”.
