US carrier Alaska Airlines is planning a major recruitment drive in 2023, with around 3,500 jobs to be offered across a range of divisions

The hires are to include around 500 new pilots, the airline said.

"From maintenance technicians to contact centre agents, flight attendants to pilots, customer service agents to software engineers, we will have jobs available for anyone who wants to be part of our team," Alaska announced.

The recruits will be needed as Alaska plans to add routes to its network and aircraft to its fleet.  "Most of the new jobs are based at our hubs in Seattle and Portland, as well as locations up and down the west coast [of the US]," it said.

"It’s an exciting time to join our team, and we’re eager to welcome more great people to Alaska,” said Andy Schneider, the airline's senior vice president of people.
