Alaska Airlines launches new daily nonstop service to Tokyo Narita

Alaska Airlines has launched new nonstop flights from Seattle to Tokyo Narita. The route will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines and initially with its A330 aircraft. 

“Our growing fleet of widebody aircraft, which includes the flagship 787 Dreamliner, unleashes a world of possibilities of where we can fly to from Seattle,” said Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci. “Looking ahead, we’ll have exciting additional milestones as we share the new international routes we’ll be launching in the coming years, including destinations in Europe, as part of our plans to serve at least 12 international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle by 2030.”

Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon are the first two of its long-haul flights from Seattle of the 12 to come. The company said there was “strong interest” in its nonstop flights to Tokyo. Flights between Seattle and Seoul begin September 12. 

With the merger between Alaska and Hawaiian closed last year, the The company said the “future of our international service from Seattle” will be with its growing 787-9 fleet. The company said it will also refresh the A330s based in Honolulu in the coming years, with the fleet remaining a “proud part of the Hawaiian Airlines brand”. 

The investments into its A330s include seating, cabin interiors, onboard products, and amenities, with further details to come next year.
