Airmedic and Limosa to collaborate on electrifying air medical transportation

Private air medical transport company Airmedic and evTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing craft) developer Limosa are to collaborate on developing an air ambulance variant of Limosa’s eVTOL platform.

Established in 2012, Quebec-based Airmedic currently operates its own fleet of Airbus helicopters and Pilatus fixed-wing aircraft in the emergency medical evacuation and inter-hospital transfer roles. “We are at the beginning of an extraordinary journey in the electric transportation sector,” commented Sophie Larochelle, CEO of Airmedic, adding that this partnership would allow the company to “commit to sustainability”.

President and CEO of Limosa Hamid Hamidi added that that Limosa’s LimoMedic aircraft would complement Airmedic’s “wealth of experience in operating air ambulances in Quebec, particularly in the northern regions,” noting that the eVTOL “combines the best of both worlds” (able to take off and land vertically, as well as switch to horizontal flight).
