Airlink has launched an appeal to provide humanitarian aid to Beirut following last week's explosion
Last week’s explosion in Beirut didn’t just create a crisis—it worsened an existing one, says the charity which warns there is a risk of widespread hunger, driven by rising unemployment and a crumpling currency, was a concern even before the explosion damaged half of Beirut. Unlike a traditional famine, though, this crisis is not driven by a lack of food, but by the inability to access it because the port in Beirut has been rendered inoperable.
For now, providing emergency relief through 13 of our humanitarian partners is our priority. In addition, we recognize that the relief will be needed long-term and we’ll have more to share about this soon. Please donate today to help us reach the people of Beirut quickly with relief aid and skilled responders.
