Airlines in Australia offer bumper sale on airfare as Bonza joins the fray

The introduction of low-cost carrier Bonza has alerted the competitive airlines in Australia to put their flight tickets on-sale to attract tourists. Of lately the airfares in Australia had gone so high that Australia’s Competition and Consumer Commission had to intervene and ask the airlines not to hold back capacity to keep fares at high levels.

Bonza released the complete details of all its 12 destinations on 15 routes along with the fares on each service. One way fare on Bonza is at $34.80.

At around the same time Virgin Australia released it Bring On 2023 sale by offering more than half a million economy seats at one-way prices starting from $39, on both domestic and international routes.

Dave Emerson, Chief Commercial Officer, Virgin Australia said: “January is a month synonymous with planning for the year ahead - looking at opportunities for holidays, business trips, connecting with family and friends or exploring a new part of the country - we have so many great fares on offer no matter the reason for travel, and we encourage Australians to get in before they sell out.”

Somewhere around the same time Qantas placed its 170,000 seats on sale to 26 international destinations for a limited period offer. The discounts vary from route to route, and selected travel dates.

Although the sale on airfare by the Australian airlines had brought smiles to the passengers, it is short lived as most of the ticket sales are on limited time offer except for Bonza where fares can be booked 24/7 on every route.
