AIRLINES COMPLAIN ABOUT HIGH DELHI AIRPORT CHARGES

Indian airlines are complaining about the high fees for Delhi International Airport’s new Terminal 3 (T3) that opened five months ago.

Operator Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), says the higher fees are justified thanks to the extra facilities. “We provide a lot more clean offices here and also provide them one point for various services like couriers, and that comes at a cost,” said a spokesperson.

DIAL is a joint venture led by the Bangalore-headquartered GMR Group, with state-owned Airports Authority of India, Germany’s Fraport and Malaysian Airport Holdings.

Airlines says they have to pay higher rates for food because their own caterers are not allowed in. Office space is also charged at a premium.
