AirJapan, first look of inflight products and crew uniform unveiled

AirJapan, All Nippon Airways new airline brand for medium haul international routes, recently unveiled the first look of its inflight product and crew uniform. Initial plans indicated that AirJapan would launch services in the second half of 2023, but it has now been pushed to February 2024. The airline will operate a fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft to destinations in Southeast Asia with a further expansion to other destinations across the continent.

ANA said AirJapan was part of its business model transformation for sustainable growth and improvements in how they respond to changing customer preferences.

“We are excited to begin unveiling AirJapan and the selectable service and comfortable cabin experience it will offer passengers,” said Hideki Mineguchi, President of Air Japan. “By focusing on medium-haul international routes, the ANA Group will be better equipped to meet emerging trends for international travel at a competitive price. We are proud to be part of the team that is increasing options for travelers while also bringing the same commitment to quality and safety found across the ANA Group.

AirJapan's aircraft cabin will be configured with 324 economy class seats made of Japanese faux leather, offering a seat pitch of 32 inches and recline feature. The airline claims that the wider front legroom and deeper reclining design provide passengers with a more comfortable in-flight experience. The seats will also come with Type-A and Type-C USB ports and tablet holders.

British design company Acumen Design Associates have designed its cabin interior and seats, and the manufacturing was done by Safran.

ANA wants to provide hybrid airline services through AirJapan transitioning between a full-service and a low-cost carrier. It will be interesting to see how the airline performs in the tough competition around its market segment.
