Russia’s AirBridgeCargo has reported a 16% increase in cargo volume carried during H1 2014. The Volga-Dnepr Group member carried 188,354 tonnes on international services during the period, while load factors reached 72%.
AirBridge stated that the improved results were due to network growth. In the US, the carrier launched flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and increased the number of flights to Chicago. In Europe, the airline started service to Leipzig, Munich and Malme. It also launched flights from Frankfurt to Chicago following the approval of fifth freedom flights from Frankfurt to the US.
The airline also reported 13% growth during H1 on routes inbound to Russia. Total cargo volume reached 42,767 tonnes.
AirBridge vice president Denis Ilyin stated that the airline continues to focus on the Russian domestic market with the launch of domestic flights through Volga-Dnepr subsidiary Atran, using its B737Fs; and that AirBridge plans to carry 400,000 tonnes before the end of 2014.
