airBaltic reports 4% revenue increase in May
The Latvian national airline airBaltic has reported a preliminary revenue over €68 million for May 2024, marking a 4% increase compared to the same period last year. According to airBaltic, “this result, while being in the middle of Q2, reflects a continuously steady performance and suggests positive business trends”. airBaltic carried 434 100 passengers in May 2024 – a 1% decrease compared to May 2023. Alongside this, airBaltic operated 4 300 flights in May 2024, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. During the first three months of 2024, airBaltic achieved Q1 revenue of over €132 million, a 27% increase from 2023, while passenger numbers benefiting from a 20% rise. Last month airBaltic expanded its network by launching 15 new routes, including seven new countries in Southeast Europe. This year, the airline will operate 130 routes from all bases and provide one-stop connections to the rest of the world through its more than 20 code-share partners. Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “During May, airBaltic continued to demonstrate confident financial and operational performance, with increased revenue. “At the beginning of May, we expanded our network by launching 15 new destinations from all our home bases, including seven new countries in Southeast Europe. We are dedicated to ensuring the best connectivity between the Baltics and the rest of the world, as well as enhancing the passenger experience and contributing to the economy. “During the upcoming months, we plan to continue expanding our network by launching new Pop-Up and scheduled flights, continuing our operations from our seasonal base in Gran Canaria, and launching direct flights to a unique new destination – Madeira. These developments are expected to further boost our traffic across the Baltic region and beyond”.
