airBaltic reports 11% passenger increase in April
The Latvian national airline airBaltic starts the summer season strongly, carrying 365 200 passengers in April, 2024 – an 11% increase compared to the same period last year. These are the second-highest passenger numbers carried in April in the airline's history. In April, airBaltic operated 3,750 flights, marking a 15% increase from the previous year. “The month-to-month growth in passenger numbers shows our position as the leading airline in the Baltic States,"" says Martin Gauss, president and CEO of airBaltic. ""At the beginning of May, we launched 15 new destinations from all our home bases, including seven new countries in Southeast Europe. This expansion offers our customers even wider travel opportunities this summer. Additionally, we recently announced our new Pop-Up flights, featuring routes from Riga to Liepaja and from Tallinn to Palma de Mallorca. We look forward to announcing even more exciting destinations within this concept. These developments are expected to further boost our traffic across the Baltic region and beyond.” Stats from airBaltic showed that in the first quarter of 2024, the airline carried nearly one million passengers, amounting to 926 000. This is a 20% increase during the same period in the previous year, alongside airBaltic Group reporting an all-time record profit of EUR 34 million for 2023. These stats were helped by airBaltic expanding its network in 2024 by announcing 17 new routes – eight from Latvia, four from Estonia, four from Lithuania and one from Finland.
