Latvian airline airBaltic has launched a new direct route connecting Riga, Latvia with Faro, Portugal. The service will be operated once per week.
This route plays a role in the airline’s winter schedule, which will also include flights from Gran Canaria, Spain to Ljubljana, Slovenia, from October 25, 2025, onwards, and from Tallinn, Estonia to Madeira, Portugal, from October 26, 2025 onwards.
Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP network management at airBaltic, said “This new route opens a direct gateway for Latvian travelers to the Algarve – one of Europe’s most attractive leisure regions – while also offering passengers from Portugal convenient access to Riga and beyond. With Faro and our expanded winter schedule, we continue to broaden the variety of leisure options available during the colder months and to strengthen airBaltic’s role as the leading carrier in the Baltics.”
The airline also plans to increase flight frequencies from all three Baltic capitals to Amsterdam, thus offering 19 weekly flights from Riga and 14 weekly flights each from Tallinn and Vilnius, Lithuania. It will also expand its presence in Dubai by launching daily flights from its home base in Riga and doubling service from Vilnius with four weekly flights between the two cities.
Additionally, airBaltic plans to extend some of its summer season routes into the winter season, operating flights from Riga to Pisa and Porto through November. Meanwhile, flights from Riga to Catania in Italy will begin earlier, from March 2026, in order to expand leisure options for travellers.
The airline’s flights from Riga to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada — both in Egypt — will also be increasing in frequency, offering three flights per week to each destination. Through the winter season, airBaltic also plans to resume operating two weekly flights between Riga and Dublin. In accordance with the season, the airline will also offer an extensive selection of ski destinations, including Innsbruck Austria and Salzburg in Austria, as well as Geneva, Verona, and Kittila.
