airBaltic expands operations in Africa

airBaltic has launched its first direct flight from Riga to Marrakesh in Morocco. With this flight, airBaltic will not connect the Baltic states with Africa.

Pauls Cālītis, Chief Operations Officer at airBaltic: “We are excited to launch our first ever scheduled route to Africa. Marrakesh or the so-called Pearl of the South is both an exotic and warm destination and important center of economics, also for Latvia. Moreover, it has plenty to offer for culture lovers as well. As the leading airline in the Baltics, we continue to build our network, adding more captivating leisure destinations also for the winter season.”

Flights between Riga and Marrakesh in Morocco are scheduled to take 5 hours and 30 minutes and will be operated by the Airbus A220-300 aircraft, the airline said.

Currently, airBaltic offers services to and from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, as well as Tampere to European cities.
