AirAsia X is planning to increase its operating fleet of A330 by more than double, to 13 A330 aircraft to meet the rising consumer demand. The new aircraft are planning to enter the AirAsia X fleet by mid-2023.
Tunku Dato’ Mahmood Fawzy, Chairman of AirAsia X, said: “The airline expects to reach more than 15 hours of aircraft utilization and introduce daily frequencies to its core markets for selected routes with high demand.”
AAX currently operates a fleet of six A330s. Prior to the pandemic, the airline had placed an order for 78 A330-900 aircraft, but the order was brought down to 15 and further delayed due to the pandemic.
