AirAsia X passengers nearly double in first quarter
Malaysian airline AirAsia X's passenger numbers increased to 959,623 in the first quarter of the year, nearly doubling from 504,476 passengers in the first quarter of 2023. In its preliminary first quarter operating statistics, it also revealed that its load factor was up three percentage points to 83%. Its available seat kilometres (ASKs) were up from 2.9bn to 5bn YoY, while its revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) were up from 2.3bn to 4.1bn YoY. In addition, it had grown its fleet of A330s by four to a total of 18 aircraft by the quarter's end. Its associate airline AirAsia X Thailand reported its passengers carried for the first quarter had reached 437,764, up from 289,813 in the same period last year. Its capacity was up one percentage point to 89%. ASKs were up from 1.6bn to 2.2bn YoY, and RPKs were up from 1.4bn to 1.9bn YoY.
