The International Air Transport Association has suspended Air Zimbabwe from international financial and flight booking services.
In a statement issued yesterday, IATA ordered travel agents to ‘immediately stop all ticketing and refund transactions’ for Air Zimbabwe.
The airline still can fly using only its own facilities, however, but this action will cause a severe drop in bookings from non-Zimbawbean passengers.
Air Zimbabwe owes IATA US$280,000 in unpaid worldwide billing and ticketing fees. The airline has stated that it has ‘already engaged IATA to negotiate a payment plan’.
