Air Transat has expanded its winter routes to include direct flights to Lima, Peru from Montreal and Toronto, giving travelers new options for South American destinations. The airline will offer exclusive new direct routes to Lima International Airport (LIM) in Peru this winter from Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ).
Starting on December 20 and 22, Air Transat will begin flying from Toronto and Montreal to Lima, respectively. The new routes will be operated on Air Transat's A321LR with a capacity of 199 passengers in a two-class configuration.
Toronto-Lima flights will be operated twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from December 20 to April 24. In addition, Montreal-Lima flights will be operated once weekly, on Fridays, from December 22 to April 26.
Air Transat will also be flying to Cozumel, Mexico this winter season once weekly, on Fridays, from December 15 to April 26.
Proud to add Lima to its portfolio of destinations on three continents, Michèle Barre, chief revenue officer, Air Transat said: “This strategic expansion allows us to diversify our long-haul offering by maximizing the use of our A321LR aircraft and to capitalize on the sustained growth of tourism in South America. Meanwhile, we are consolidating our presence in the Mexican market – a key destination of our Caribbean winter program – by restarting our operations in Cozumel.”
With these routes, Air Transat would directly compete with Air Canada, which also operates seasonal services to Lima from Montreal and Toronto deploying its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the routes.
