Air Transat commences flights to Istanbul

Canadian leisure carrier Air Transat has commenced flights to Istanbul Airport last week.

The route is operated with the airline's A330-200 aircraft.

Sebastian Ponce, chief revenue officer at Air Transat, said: “The Toronto–Istanbul route clearly expresses our strategy: optimise with a year-round service that reduces seasonality and maximises fleet utilisation, drive profitable growth through our partnership with Turkish Airlines that mitigates investment risk, and diversify by serving travellers visiting friends and relatives and by opening access to markets beyond Istanbul."

Server Aydin, chief commercial officer of the airport's operating company iGA Istanbul Airport, added: “The new route will enhance prospects for both tourism and trade between Türkiye and Canada, whilst reinforcing Istanbul’s growing role in the international aviation ecosystem.”

Air Transat is the ninth newest airline to join iGA's network in 2025, with passenger airlines operating from iGA Istanbul Airport now totalling 116.
