Air Transat has become the first and only airline to offer a direct connection between Canada and Ghana.
On Thursday (November 20), the Canadian arirline unveiled a new route from Toronto to Accra, the capital of Ghana, for the summer 2026 season.
The route will commence in June and will run until October, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.
"This non-stop service between Toronto and Accra aligns with our growth strategy on the African continent and directly responds to the needs of the Ghanaian diaspora in Ontario, as well as the increasing interest in travelling to Ghana,” said Sebastian Ponce, chief revenue officer at Air Transat.
“It will also provide travellers with an entirely new, simplified connectivity option, eliminating the long European layovers that were previously required."
With this announcement, Accra becomes the fourth destination on the African continent served by Air Transat.
Last week, Air Transat announced new services to Dakar and Agadir, in addition to its existing year-round services to Marrakech.
