Air Senegal replaces Senegal Airlines

Senegal has created a new national airline, Air Senegal, which replaces the defunct Senegal Airlines. Air Senegal was formed with a capital of 40 billion CFA francs ($69 million) from the state, which has pledged a further 60 billion CFA francs. The government has stated that it is seeking a “strong strategic partner” to help launch the airline as quickly as possible. Turkish Airlines has been named the frontrunner by Senegal state-owned television late last week.
