Air Peace offers repatriation flights to violence struck Sudan

Air Peace is planning to help Nigerian citizen stuck in Sudan by offering free-of-charge evacuation flights. But with Sudan airspace currently closed due to on-going conflict, the people trying to get to safety will have to move to a neighbouring country – either Kenya or Uganda to pick up Air Peace’s repatriation flights.

About 4,000 Nigerians are anticipated to be in Sudan as of now.

Allen Onyema, CEO, Air Peace said: “I am compelled to help because Nigeria cannot afford to lose her citizens in that country. It would be my own commitment to making sure that the stranded Nigerians in the war-torn country are safe. Everything must not be left for the government alone, especially as the situation calls for urgency and immediate action. Again, Air Peace is willing to evacuate Nigerians stranded in Sudan free of charge if the government can get them to a safe and secure airport in any of the neighboring countries bordering Sudan.”

All commercial operations at Khartoum International Airport have ceased since clashes broke out on April 15, 2023. Although the runway is still intact, the violence has damaged many aircraft in the vicinity.

Meanwhile repatriation efforts are in full swing from across the world with help arriving from US, the UK, Germany, France, and Spain. Around 40 aircraft from 12 different countries have been seen arriving at air bases in Jordan and neighboring Djibouti.
