Air India aims for 30% market share in Indian domestic markets

Standing firm on its promise of fleet modernisation and improving passenger experience, Air India has unveiled a comprehensive five-year transformation plan called Vihaan. AI. Feeling immensely proud at the kick-start of a revolution, Air India MD and CEO Campbell Wilson said: “This is the beginning of a historic transformation for Air India and the dawn of a new era. We are laying the foundation for a brave new Air India, with a renewed sense of purpose and incredible momentum”

The main focus of the airline as per the plan will be network and fleet expansion, revamping customer propositions, enhancing reliability and on-time performance, and taking a leadership role in technology, sustainability, and innovation, while aggressively investing in the best talent in the industry, the airline said in a statement.

Over and above Air India plans to increase its market share by 30% in the domestic market in the next 5 years.  Vihaan.AI transformation plan was unveiled by Wilson along with senior management members.

Meanwhile, the TATA Group will be consolidating the offices of three airlines Air India, Air India Express, and AirAsia India under one roof in Delhi. The airline has already started the process of vacating its offices across the country.

As for the fourth airline under the Tata Group, talks of Air India and the Vistara merger have remained a hot topic in the aviation industry. However, since a part of the stakes of Vistara is owned by Singapore Airlines, its interest has been one of the hurdles in the merger. It remains to be seen whether there will be a merger or Air India and Vistara will remain two separate airlines, the bigger picture will emerge in the coming months.
