Air France-KLM lost €70 million December due to severe snow conditions. A government investigation is underway to determine who is at fault for the disruption. Air France-KLM has stated that if the government finds it responsible it will be forced to seek damages form French airport authorities.
Philippe Calavia, the airline’s financial director, said that if the airline is blamed: “there could be negotiations with Aéroports de Paris to see under what conditions they could help us defray a party of the extra costs”.
CEO Pierre-Henri Gourgeon blamed ADP for not having enough de-icing fluid for the aircraft to take off in freezing weather leading to 3,700 to 3,800 flights being cancelled in December.
A government report on the transport disruption is expected to be made public later this week.
