Air cargo rates from Asia Pacific and worldwide weakened further in the week to April 20 due to uncertainties surrounding US tariffs, coupled with the Easter holidays, WorldACD said in its weekly cargo report.
Air cargo tonnages and rates from Asia Pacific fell by 4% and 3%, respectively, compared to the prior week. Worldwide chargeable weight dropped 6% compared to the previous week. The report said this was similar to the 5% decline during last year's Easter period, with demand falling during the holidays.
“The big difference from last year is the development of rates, which last year were on the rise, but this year prices fell,” the report said. Prices fell week-on-week from all regions except from Central & South America.
