Air Canada woes

Air Canada passengers are once again being warned of possible delays or cancellations today across the network as the carrier issued a Canada-wide travel advisory this morning warning its passengers of possible delays or cancellations due to “airport disruptions.” It was also waving its rebooking fee for those passengers wishing to travel at a later date. There was no immediate word from the airline whether it was the result of a threatened illegal strike action by its pilots. But Scott Armstrong, a spokesman for the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, said it was already causing problems at the country’s busiest airport. “We have about 50 cancelled flights this morning, which is more than usual, and the vast majority of them are Air Canada’s,” he said.

Two Air Canada flights out of Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport (to Toronto and Halifax) were cancelled and three were listed as delayed (to Calgary, Denver and Halifax) on the airport’s website by 8:15 a.m. Friday local time. Keep an eye on this as it does not look good.
