Air Canada promises to work with plans to limit carriers at Toronto Pearson

Following reports that carrier limits are to be imposed at Toronto Pearson Airport, flag carrier Air Canada said it was first advised of such plans in August 2022 and came up with a 2023 winter schedule which it said took "these limitations" into account.

The carrier said it "subsequently received information about GTAA's [Greater Toronto Airport Authority] plans for summer 2023 and similarly designed this coming summer's schedule to meet those parameters".

The carrier said its policy is to "work with its industry partners to meet the requirements of airports and other third parties to drive operational improvements and support the smooth running of Canada's air transport system".

"This includes, as in this case, adapting its schedule as required to ensure operational stability, and is a normal process," it added.
