Air Canada's flight attendants have voted by a majority of 65% to reject a tentative agreement with the airline and plan to strike from Thursday. Duncan Dee, Air Canada's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office, said he was “perplexed and disappointed that two tentative agreements negotiated in good faith with and unanimously recommended by the democratically elected representatives of our flight attendants have failed to be ratified.”
This is the second time in three months that CUPE, the union that represents Air Canada's 6,800 flight attendants, has voted down a tentative deal.
The airline said its operations will not be affected in the interim, and it will maintain its normal schedule. It is also going to be operating "a flexible rebooking policy", which will allow passengers booked for travel in the next six days to change dates without penalty until Dec. 15 subject to seat availability.
