Air Canada will continue to ground its Boeing 737 Max aircraft until at least August 1, with the aim to provide more certainty for passengers with summer travel plans.
With original plans to scrub the 737 MAX until July 1, following Transport Canada's imposed ban on the aircraft due to the fatal March 10 crash of an Ethiopian Airlines plane, Air Canada says it has taken several steps to adjust its schedule.
The airline's extension follows hot on the heels of American Airlines, which extended its cancellation period until Aug 19.
Air Canada was expecting to receive another 12 aircraft for a total fleet of 36 Max aircraft in July, but deliveries of the 737 Max have been paused by Boeing.
