Air Cairo recently took delivery of four new aircraft, three Embraer E190 and one Airbus A320neo as a part of its fleet expansion and modernization plan. The new aircraft will join the airline’s fleet of 16 Airbus A320s and four ATR 72-600s, bringing Air Cairo’s total fleet size to 24. The airline plans to induct six more aircraft by March 2023, and reach the fleet capacity of 30.

The Embraer aircraft are leased from CIAF Leasing, which received the aircraft in December 2022. All three are currently being stored at Cairo International Airport (CAI), awaiting entry into service. They are expected to join the carrier’s ATR 72-600s in operating primarily domestic and short-range flights.

As per the airline, both the Embraer E190 and the Airbus A320neo are young, fuel-efficient aircraft and are well-suited to Air Cairo’s operation and along with the existing A320s and ATR 72-600s, the aircraft will offer flexibility to operate appropriately-sized aircraft on different routes.

Air Cairo recently expanded its network with newer routes from Hurghada. The airline already resumed its flights to Budapest from December 2022 for the first time since pandemic while the routes to Milan and Naples will start from March 2023.

Balázs Bogáts, Budapest Airport’s airline development director, said: “After a three-year hiatus, it’s wonderful to see Air Cairo join us again at Budapest with another link to the popular destination of Hurghada. Our latest partner will offer fantastic opportunities for the ever-growing number of Egyptian tourists visiting us every year while also allowing the many Hungarians traveling to Egypt to experience the stunning Red Sea coast.”

As of now, the airline has an extensive domestic and international network with flights to over 40 destinations across Europe and the Middle East. The airline also flies on behalf of several European tour operators.
