Air Astra receives AOC, ready to start commercial operations

Air Astra recently received its air operator certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) clearing its path for commercial operations.

The AOC was handed over by Air Commodore Shah Kawsar Ahmed Choudhury, member (Flight standards and regulations), CAAB to Imran Asif, chief executive officer, and accountable manager, Air Astra.

Welcoming Air Astra to Bangladesh, Air Commodore Shah Kawsar Ahmed Choudhury said: “I am confident that Air Astra will boost the Bangladesh aviation industry by contributing to the GDP through safe and efficient flight operations across the country. Thank you for your consistent compliance with the regulations of CAAB leading to its certification within one year of application.”

Imran Asif, CEO, Air Astra said: “Thank you CAAB for your continued support and guidance in helping the airline comply with all regulations and achieve the AOC. I reassure the authority that the airline shall always endeavor to act professionally through its team of industry-leading professionals and always adhere to all regulations especially those pertaining to safety.”

The airline has already taken delivery of two ATR 72-600 turboprops with a configuration of 70-seats at Dhaka and plans to add another two aircraft in the coming months.
