Air Astana plans to hold IPO in 2024

Air Astana is planning to undertake an initial public offering (IPO) next year according to Akorda press service, the President’s official media page. The airline CEO, Peter Foster revealed in a company briefing to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that the airline is planning to acquire additional Airbus and Boeing aircraft in 2025 and discussed the airline price policy.

The President expressed support in its development strategy for fleet and network expansion.

According to previous announcement, the airline is planning to lease three B787-9s from Air Lease Corporation with deliveries between early 2025 and the first half of 2026. It also has three B787-8s on direct order from Boeing which are yet to be delivered.

“In 2023, the fleet of the Air Astana group of companies is expected to increase by six aircraft,” the airline said in a previous statement. But the airline did not reveal the types of aircraft.

Samruk-Kazyna, the Kazakh sovereign wealth fund owns 51% of the airline stake with rest 49% is owned by UK’s BAE systems.
