AFI KLM E&M joins Pratt & Whitney GTF MRO network

AFI KLM E&M signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney for the maintenance and repair of PW1500G engines used to power Airbus A220 aircraft. As a part of the agreement, AFI KLM E&M will join Pratt & Whitney’s global support network for GTF engines. With this agreement, AFI KLM E&M hopes to position itself as a key player in the PW1500G aftermarket.

Marc Meredith, Executive Director of GTF Engine Aftermarket at Pratt & Whitney, stated: “We are excited to welcome AFI KLM E&M to our distinguished network of shops. Their experience as an operator and established MRO provider will be a strong asset in providing world-class maintenance services to the growing GTF fleet.”

AFI KLM E&M will now be able to perform full overhauls for PW1500G engines from dismantling/assembly operations to certain parts repair and testing, the agreement states. This new agreement allows AFI KLM E&M to strengthen its portfolio of capabilities for Engine maintenance, and to consolidate its positioning on new-generation products, following on from the GE90, GEnx, Trent XWB, and LEAP engines.

Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President of Air France-KLM Engineering and Maintenance said: “We are pleased to join the Pratt & Whitney GTF MRO network. Adding the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine to our capabilities strengthens our positioning on the next generation of platforms, boosts our offering to customers, and enhances the technical expertise of our maintenance teams.”

Michael Grootenboer, Senior Vice President of Group Engine Product for AFI KLM E&M said: “Adding GTF maintenance to our engine MRO portfolio means that AFI KLM E&M will perform maintenance on the new-generation engine platforms for all major engine OEMs, once again confirming our position as the leading OEM-independent engine MRO provider.”

Air France recently ordered 60 A220s as part of its fleet renewal strategy, with the option of adding 60 more.   AFI KLM E&M will begin receiving and working on PW1500G engines in the second quarter of 2023 at its platform in Paris.
