AFI KLM E&M And Air China Technics Step Up MRO Partnership

Concurrently with the signing of a major GE90 engine support contract, AFI KLM E&M and Air China Technics jointly expressed their intention to extend the scope of their cooperation in the aircraft maintenance sphere. The initiative is part of a partnership and exchange program between the two parties. Under the terms of the agreement, the AIR FRANCE KLM group will see one of its Boeing 747-400s undergo a heavy maintenance check carried out by Air China subsidiary AMECO.

AFI KLM E&M and Air China Technics have already reached agreement on the design and implementation of a 2-way, long-term training program for a significant number of engineers and managers from both companies.

Franck Terner, Executive Vice President AIR FRANCE KLM Engineering & Maintenance, said: "These exchanges will help enrich our two organizations with new points of view and will also help identify MRO opportunities likely to benefit both parties."

Chai Weixi, Senior Vice President of Air China limited, stated: "In implementing this new initiative, we will be able to address and explore in further detail a large number of common MRO topics and centres of interest, including aerostructures, cabin modifications and line maintenance. We will also be able to build up relations between our two groups around a common language and topics.
