Aeroflot Group reduced capacity hits passenger number predictions

Aeroflot Group has restated its estimate for passenger numbers in 2021 following the announcement that it will combine its regional subsidiaries—Rossiya Airlines, OrenAir and Donavia—into one company under the Rossiya Airlines brand. Aeroflot now says it will carry 61.5 million passengers in 2021, down from a previous guidance released in May 2015 of 64.7 million passengers in 2020. In 2014, Aeroflot predicted it would carry 67.6 million passengers in 2020.

In January 2016, Aeroflot carried 2 million passengers, up 10.7% compared to last year but capacity is down. Rossiya Airlines passenger numbers declined by 27.4% to 275,411 passengers in January; OrenAir passenger numbers dropped 3.5% to 192,617; while Donavia’s January traffic dropped by 33.7% to 75,693 passengers carried.

Aeroflot group traffic increased 11.6% to 2.97 million passengers. International traffic was up 2.7% to 1.24 million, while domestic traffic increased 19.1% to 1.72 million.
