AerFin Caerphilly facility gains FAR 145 approval; Bamboo Airways selects AerFin’s BeyondPool component solution

AerFin’s MRO facility in Caerphilly, UK is now an approved Repair Station by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAR 145).

The accreditation is part of AerFin’s engine maintenance expansion plans, due to officially launch imminently and will see the company offer  a range of in-house and off-wing maintenance activities, including quick turn services, hospital shop repairs and engine transitions.

The certification further complements the company’s existing European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) accreditations.

Simon Bayliss, Director of Operations at AerFin said: “This recognition is a testament to our quality control, compliance and project management work undertaken by the entire team. Investing in the training of our employees to the latest regulatory standard and in our infrastructure including OEM engine line tooling was critical in delivering this certification. This FAA approval is international recognition of our capabilities and we look forward to supporting our expanding customer base with our engine MRO services.”

Meanwhile, Vietnamese full service airline, Bamboo Airways, has become the latest airline to select AerFin’s BeyondPool component solution.

The spares support program will satisfy the component requirements of Bamboo’s fleet of E-Jet aircraft, including the provision of an on-site inventory holding positioned at the airline’s headquarters in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The contract marks another significant step for AerFin as Bamboo Airways become its first E-Jet contract customer in Asia, a region that is proving to be a popular destination for the secondary E-Jet market as aircraft transition to new operators.

Chris Hooley, Director – Airframe Services, said: “We are extremely focussed on anticipating the requirements of our global customer base and see this as the start of a long-term, strategic partnership with Bamboo Airways. They are an operator with an ambitious growth trajectory and following on from the success in support of the initial wet-lease operation out of Hanoi since October 2020, we are perfectly positioned to support these objectives which include imminent plans to bolster its fleet with additional E-Jet aircraft for the domestic Vietnamese market”.

Nguyen Minh Khoa, Director - Leasing and Procurement at Bamboo Airways, commented: “Following the introduction of the E-Jet aircraft into our fleet, it was crucial that we selected a partner who has the technical in-house expertise on this platform. This uniquely structured agreement provides Bamboo Airways with an affordable and reliable component support solution which has the ability to adapt and develop in tandem with the evolving operation, allowing us to continue to deliver a smooth and on-time service for our customers”.

Bamboo Airways is the latest airline to join the AerFin’s BeyondPool customer portfolio, joining operators such as: Finnair, Great Dane Airlines, IKAR and British Airways CityFlyer.
