AerFin acquires fourth ex-Japan Airlines 777-300ER to expand widebody support

AerFin has acquired a fourth Boeing 777-300ER previously operated by Japan Airlines, as it continues to increase its inventory and support capabilities for the widely used long-haul aircraft.

The aircraft recently arrived in Roswell, New Mexico, where it will form part of AerFin’s expanding portfolio of 777s.

The acquisition is the latest step in the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in the widebody aftermarket, particularly for the 777 platform, which remains in strong demand among airlines and lessors AerFin said in a statement.

AerFin explained that it already holds significant 777 inventory across its global warehousing network, with the aircraft positioned in key locations across EMEA, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. This footprint is designed to provide operators, lessors and maintenance, repair and overhaul providers with timely access to serviceable components.

Auvinash Narayen, chief investment officer at AerFin, said the continued investment reflects confidence in both the aircraft and its operators.

“The 777-300ER remains one of the most dependable and widely used long-haul aircraft in service today,” he said. “By strengthening our portfolio and maintaining substantial 777 inventory across our global network, we are well positioned to support customers with reliable, cost-effective material solutions.”

The move comes as demand for support services and spare parts for in-service widebody aircraft remains high, driven by ongoing supply chain constraints and delayed deliveries of new aircraft.

AerFin said it will continue to work with airlines, lessors and MRO partners globally to provide flexible asset solutions and ensure continued availability of critical components for the 777 fleet.
