In a letter to the Irish jobs minister Richard Bruton, Aer Lingus has announced that it is expecting to cut 150 jobs in its latest voluntary severance scheme. The move is separate from the takeover bid for the airline by IAG. The airline is seeking voluntary redundancies from staff in head office, IT, cabin crew and maintenance at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports.
"Further restructuring will see potentially up to a further 120 voluntary and agreed severances where roles may then be replaced at a lower level or cost by new hires," said the letter.
The redundancies will take effect from 1 March to 31 December.
