Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace have signed an enhanced memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a final assembly line for the E175 regional jet for India regional transport aircraft (RTA) programme.
“This signing represents a critical milestone for our partnership, as we continue to work together on all aspects of the proposed aerospace ecosystem, including securing orders for a final assembly line in India,” said Embraer CEO and president Francisco Gomes Neto.
The agreement advances the initial MoU signed last month.
Embraer said the enhanced agreement is a “significant step forward” and is part of broader plans to develop regional air transport in India.
Both companies are exploring opportunities in aircraft manufacturing, supply chain, aftermarket services, pilot training, and securing orders to support the assembly line.
“This partnership will also strengthen strategic relations between India and Brazil, bringing complementary capabilities together,” said Adani Defence & Aerospace Jeet Adani.
India is projected to require at least 500 aircraft in the 80-146 seat segment over the next 20 years. The E175 can seat up to 88 passengers. Embraer said the aircraft is “uniquely suited” to unlock opportunities in uncontested market spaces concentrated in tier two and three cities.
“These markets remain underserved by larger aircraft and the E175 can enable new routes, improved connectivity, reliable operations and accelerated expansion of regional air travel,” Embraer said.
