American Airlines and airberlin have announced an extension to their existing codeshare agreement. From March 23, the codeshare will introduce an extra 43 connecting flights, including 32 connecting destinations in American Airlines’ Chicago hub.
Through the expansion of the codeshare agreement, from April 12 airberlin passengers will also be able to fly non-stop daily from Dusseldorf to Chicago.
From March 23, airberlin will also start non-stop flights three times weekly from Berlin to the city on Lake Michigan.
airberlin chief strategy and network planning officer Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said continued work with American Airlines will ultimately allow its guests to reach almost every region within the US with an airberlin flight number.
“The linking of the route networks is a positive development for both parties and the codeshare now comprises a total of 99 routes,” Mr Prock-Schauer explained.
Other connecting destinations within the US available with an airberlin flight numbers include those from New York- JFK, Miami and Los Angeles.
