Private equity firm 3i Group has announced it plans to buy Stork Materials Technology, the materials testing business from Dutch company Stork for £130 million ($205 million).
Stork Materials Technology is a material testing business, which has a network of laboratories – eight are in the Netherlands, and 15 in the US – that provide industries in Europe and the US with data about their products and materials.
“It is a great sector,” said Andrew Olinick, a principal at 3i. “A lot of governments have said: ‘If you want to be in the aerospace sector you need to test everything in the plane.”
