The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is working to provide Tajikistan-based Somon Air with $100 million in funding, which will be used to acquire two 737 aircraft. The airline plans two procure two additional 737s in 2024, augmenting its current passenger fleet of six 737 aircraft. The new units will be integral to meeting the carrier’s rising demand, with passenger numbers soon expecting to surpass pre-pandemic levels (having reached 787,6000 in 2023).
