Entries for Airline Economics 100 Awards for 2025 will be assessed by Airline Economics editorial team and the Airline Economics+ team of industry analysts as well as certain aviation industry veterans.

Victoria Tozer-Pennington is the Editor of Airline Economics magazine, as well as director of parent company, Aviation News Ltd, the publishing and events company dedicated to the commercial aviation finance and leasing industry, which she co-founded in 2010.
Victoria is a very experienced aviation and financial journalist. Over the past two decades, she has covered markets from pharmaceuticals, loan and bonds, and aviation, as well as working extensively on risk management, where she has edited many magazines and newswires, including The Risk Universe and Operational Risk & Regulation magazine.
As well as Airline Economics, Aviation News Ltd also publishes MRO Global, several annual reports, including The Finance & Leasing Guide, The Aviation Law Guide, and The Aero Engine Guide, as well as Aviation Life magazine, a consumer publication that covers future technology – from vertical take-off air taxis and electric cars – to commercial space developments, adventurous travel, food and traveller health, all from the unique perspective of the aviation industry professional.

Philip Tozer-Pennington

Philip Tozer-Pennington is the Managing Director of Aviation News Ltd, which has been serving the commercial aviation sector for almost 15 years with news services, magazines/journals, conferences and exhibitions.
Prior to forming Aviation News Ltd., Philip was Chief Operating Officer at MTN-I, Managing Director of Aviation Industry Press, and a Sales Director at Euromoney Institutional Investor. Philip’s early career was formed in the insurance industry where he insured aviation classes (and others) at Lloyds of London and he also brokered at Jardine (JIBL) on the Asia-Pacific desk before setting up Anglo American Insurance.
Philip has advised and participated on financial, lease and sale transactions, and has over 22 years of aviation experience. Over those two decades, Philip has formed close relationships with many airlines, lessors, banks, manufacturers and maintenance providers on a global basis and considers most as friends as well as clients.
Philip is a committee member of the Aviation Club UK.
Christopher Broad
Senior Vice President – Airline Analyst Team Lead

Christopher Broad is Airline Analyst Team Lead for Airline Economics+, the company’s transportation finance consulting team.
Chris is responsible for tracking airline fleet and financial information, airline fleet management and finance strategy, as well as building and maintaining key relationships with airlines, lessors, manufacturers, and financial institutions.
Chris produces airline reports on industry trends as well as working on consultancy projects with airline customers, including transition costs and third-party consulting as part of the new Airline Economics+ programme. Chris works with airlines on aircraft and engine acquisition and disposal, as well as aircraft and engine utilisation optimisation.
Prior to joining Airline Economics, Chris was Senior Corporate Finance Manager at Vista Global where he was in charge of fleet management and financing strategy including aircraft (and engine) acquisition, disposal, financing/refinancing, and restructurings. Before that he was Senior Manager – Commercial Fleet Management and Fleet Finance at TUI Group, where he was responsible for the negotiation and management of all owned aircraft and engine re-marketing and disposal processes. Previous roles include, Senior Group Fleet Manager, Avincis Mission Critical Services / TUI Travel as Head of Contracts and Procurement, Viking Airlines UK Ltd (previously known as Meridian Aviation) and XL Airways UK Ltd.
Gary Critchlow

Gary Crichlow holds a degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is a Certified Appraiser by the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). He has 17 years’ experience in appraising aircraft and major aircraft components including engines and landing gear.
Based in London, UK, over the course of his career Gary has worked as an appraiser for leading asset appraisal firms, as well as an aviation specialist debt advisor for a boutique finance broker and as portfolio manager for two major banks.
Gary is part of the advisory team at Airline Economics, the aviation industry’s leading news and conference organiser. With a team of experienced aviation industry veterans, Airline Economics is leveraging their expertise and experience to provide specialist appraisal, airline and banking consultancy and data services to its clients.
Justin Patrick
Senior Vice President – Finance Analysis

Justin is an experienced aviation financier having worked at leading Aviation finance institutions with an established track record in Debt Origination, Loan Structuring, Syndications, Leasing and Aircraft Asset Management.
Justin’s role is to advise on and provide information relating to the latest trends and transactions in financing and leasing in Aviation, regularly communicating and working with market leaders (financiers. Lessors and manufacturers) to enable our clients to make key investment decisions, helping them to source capital, and grow their businesses.
Previous missions included:
- Vice President in Origination (later SVP in Syndications) helping to build DVB Bank from a small domestic lender into a global aviation lending platform
- Senior Manager in a team at Alliance & Leicester successfully refocussing and growing the aircraft finance franchise from a credit-based lender to an international aviation bank. And following Santander’s acquisition from A&L, as a Director, managing, restructuring and selling down a non-core loan and lease portfolio, selling loans to investors and aircraft to airlines whilst managing the operating lease fleet
- Senior Director in the Syndications team at Norddeutsche Landesbank, distributing loan facilities for airlines and lessors to other aviation banks around the world.
Betsy R. Snyder, CFA
Independent Senior Advisor
Betsy R. Snyder was a Director in S&P Global Ratings Corporate Ratings group from 1990 through March 2024. She specialized in coverage of transportation companies, including aircraft lessors and the airline industry. She also worked extensively on Structured Finance transactions related to her areas of specialization.
Prior to joining S&P, Betsy was an equity research analyst for Merrill Lynch and L.F. Rothschild.
Betsy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Fordham University. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. Betsy has been a Trustee of the ISTAT Foundation and is currently a member of the ISTAT International Appraisers’ Program Board of Governors. Betsy has participated extensively as both a speaker and moderator at various global conferences.
