One passenger has died following severe turbulence on a 777-300ER flight from London Heathrow to Singapore on the evening of May 20, 2024, a Singapore Airlines spokesperson confirmed. The flight had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, and a press conference held by Thai authorities confirmed that a 73 year old British man died, with 53 passengers and 1 member of staff injured – with 7 in a critical condition.
