Indian tribunal approves Air India and Vistara merger

India’s national company law tribunal (NCLT) has approved the merger between both Tata group airlines Air India and Vistara in an order dated June 6, according to Reuters. The approval brings the merger closer to fruition, with the NCLT stating the merger must be completed within nine months. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson had reportedly said the merger should be completed by the end of the year. The merger was first announced in November 2022 and will include Vistara, which is 49% owned by Singapore Airlines, being absorbed by Air India.
